Leap of Faith By John R. Millea

Last fall I decided it was time to record an album. I had been writing and performing for about two years, and selling a CD of fairly rough demo recordings at my concerts. It was time give people something a bit more polished.

So I launched a project on a crowd funding site, Kickstarter.com. I created what I thought was a pretty great project and launched it in October, 2012. About half way through the 30 day funding period, I reached $1500 of my $7000 goal... and that was all the farther it went. Needless to say I was disappointed when my project reached it's deadline without meeting the funding goal and I did not receive any of the money pledged.

It took me a little while to re-group. I toured in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey from January to April. In May I preached on Bible prophecy for a couple weeks at a little church in up-state New York. While I was there I was invited to preach to the early-teens in Minnesota and Central California's Campmeetings.

Amid all of this busyness, I was working for my uncle doing hardwood floors. He was very understanding about all the travel, and allowed me keep my job in spite of all the time off I was taking. But I was beginning to realize that something had to give... and it wasn't going to be my songwriting. So at the end of May this year I quit my day job to pursue music full time.

This leap of faith has inspired me to move forward with my goal of recording an album. So, just a few days ago, I launched a fundraiser on my website, JohnMillea.com. I am excited to see what God will do! Music reaches people in a way that nothing else can, and my mission is to create music with a clear gospel message that is fresh and culturally relevant and yet deep and meaningful.

God has given us a powerful and beautiful message for the world. We need to be first living it, and then preaching it, singing it, drawing it, writing it, telling it in every way we can. We need to be telling that old, old story in new and fresh ways that will show the truth to be alive and powerful.

Grace be with you all.
