Your song should be one that you have written and recorded as a video on your smartphone. In the past we’ve had all levels of audio quality submitted, from very crude, to songs that were obviously recorded in state-of-the-art studios. It’s all good, but this year we’ve decided to level the playing field by asking you to submit a homemade video recording (from your smartphone) of your song(s). We ask that you not use any other recording device other than your phone. You can plug a mic into your phone, but don’t get too carried away. We are primarily interested in the song itself, not the production of it. Now here’s the clincher: we want to see you in the video playing and singing!
Execution – Each song should be submitted as a video (WMV, MP4 or .MOV file). We prefer an acoustic guitar, or piano, singer/songwriter style recording that clearly features the lyrics and allows the construction of the song to shine.
Works submitted must be created by you and not entered into a previous inSpire songwriting contest. Neither should they be derivatives of other copyrighted works. No modified hymns, please.
Song Limit – Each songwriter may submit up to 2 songs (please submit your lyrics to firstname.lastname@example.org).
Submission Fee: $15 for one song, or $25 for two.
Submission Dates – January 13-31, 2019
Got Questions? – If you have questions or comments, please send us a message.
Winners will be posted here sometime between March 10-11, 2019.
Copyright and use – Any submissions you make will still be your material. You will retain first rights to everything you create! PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend that you copyright your material with the U.S. Library of Congress. By submitting your music to us, you give inSpire the right to share, or possibly feature, your creations on the inSpire website or Facebook wall, and in our “Renew” newsletter.
There are two tracks to accommodate different ages. Payment is non-refundable.
